The Kaleidoscope Academy is a private early childhood center and elementary school. Our focus is on delivering the highest quality educational opportunities to students of all abilities through small class sizes, passionate educators, and individualized lessons. Each child is honored for their unique abilities and accompanied along their journey to success.


Kurtis Howey

Executive Director

Kurtis has a passion for serving others and a record of supporting a TEAM. Kurtis grew up in Baxter Springs, KS, and attended college at Pittsburg State University. He worked for both Healthcare facilities in Joplin, MO early on in his career. Most recently, he has served as Director of Sales for BBB Industries in the Automotive sector, based out of Daphne, AL, with a facility in Joplin (formerly, Turbo Supply, Inc.).  Kurtis and his wife, Kristine, have three children; Karissa, Kasen & Kya.

Ashley Fryer

Ashley graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed) in 2006 from Pittsburg State University, where she majored in Biology and minored in Psychology. She received her Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Miami University in 2013. Ashley is currently working on her Education Specialist in Administration (Ed.S) degree from Pittsburg State University. She has been a certified, licensed teacher for 15 years. She has taught a variety of grades and subjects over the year as well as coached sports and led student clubs and organizations. Ashley has mentored new teachers and hosted a variety of professional development sessions over the years. She has been on teacher advisory committees and was selected as a Teacher Ambassador for three years in a row. She loves working as an Instructional Coach to help other teachers reach their full potential, which of course helps students to reach theirs. In her spare time, Ashley loves gardening, reading, and teaching KidMin classes at her church.

Susan Gallaway

Kaleidoscope Academy

Susan has a passion for teaching, family, and ministry in feeding the homeless and other community outreach. Susan graduated from Mid-America Christian University in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Science of Psychology and Ethics. She is currently completing her Master’s in Education from Southwestern Assembly of God University. Susan has three children and eight grandchildren that she loves spending time with when not teaching and ministering.

Application Fee = one-time $25 fee

Curriculum Fee= $100 due each August
